From Concept and Design to Mass Production

Custom manufacturing for PVS-14 eyepiece and objectives. One programme, eight controlled stages, one team accountable for the result.

ENGAGEMENT MODELS

Join at any stage.

Bring a napkin sketch or a released drawing. We pick up where you are and carry it to production.

Build to print

You own the design

Send a released drawing and optical prescription. We manufacture, inspect and ship to it.

Build to specification

You own the requirements

Send weight, interface and performance targets. We design the optics and mechanics to meet them.

Co-development

We design it together

Joint optical and mechanical development from first concept through qualification and ramp.

PROCESS

Eight stages, each with a deliverable.

Every stage ends with something you can inspect: a document, a part or a test record.

Stage 1 and 2

Concept, requirements and optical design

Housing interface, weight target, optical KPIs, environment, volume and cost become one requirements spec. Multi-element layouts are optimised with aspheres, glass selection, tolerance budgets and stray-light analysis.

Stage 3 and 4

Opto-mechanical design, prototype and first article

Lens cells, spacers, threads and O-ring glands are designed with thermal and shock analysis. CNC prototypes, design verification and a first-article report come before any production tooling.

Stage 5

Optics fabrication

Grinding, polishing, centring and edging. Aspheric surfaces by precision molding or CNC polishing. Surface form, scratch-dig and centre thickness are checked on every lot.

Stage 6

Thin-film coating

Broadband multilayer anti-reflection coatings tuned to the image-intensifier response. Transmission is verified by spectrophotometer, and adhesion and durability are tested.

Stage 7

Cementing and cleanroom assembly

UV-cured cementing with centration control, torque-set retaining rings and O-ring sealing, assembled under controlled cleanliness.

Stage 8

Test, ramp and mass production.

Optical, mechanical and environmental testing on every lot. Production ramps once process capability is proven on the pilot lot.

Statistical process control Critical dimensions charted and reviewed continuously.
Serialised traceability Material, process and inspection records linked to each part.
Certificate and data pack Certificate of conformance and measured results with every lot.

Ready to scale?
